PM Operations Manager/ Class 5 Transport Professional

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager who can lead from the front to oversee the night shift operation of our Dunedin Branch. You will be a forward thinker who is open to new ideas and can strategically plan and promote continuous improvement.

Your exceptional written and verbal communication skills will give you the ability to listen and communicate professionally across all levels of our business. You’ll be a ‘think on your feet’ type of person and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and positively motivate our team to come along on the journey as we grow our operation.

You’ll be an experienced Class 5 driver who’s willing to also get behind the wheel as required. Hours will typically be 6.00pm to 4.00am Monday to Friday and alternative Sundays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage night shift operations in the transport and logistics department, ensuring that all processes are executed according to company standards.
• Lead, motivate, our drivers and Crossdock staff, ensuring high performance and a safe working environment.
• Ensure on-time deliveries, pickups, and accurate record-keeping of all consignments.
• Handle operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and provide timely solutions to minimize disruptions.
• Oversee inventory management, loading/unloading processes, and logistics planning during the night shift.
• Maintain accurate reporting of daily operations, including KPIs, productivity metrics, and any incidents.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth handover of shift tasks and resolve any cross-shift issues.
• Implement and enforce compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements:

• Previous experience in transport, logistics, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and handle high-pressure situations.
• Knowledge of transportation operations, fleet management, and logistics systems.
• Class 5 licence with 3-5 years’ experience driving on NZ roads essential.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
