Finance Manager

At Booth’s, we’re practical people. We find a way, we get on with it, and we do what we say we’ll do.

We’re looking for an experienced highly capable Finance Manager who operates in the same way—someone who takes pride in getting the fundamentals right but also wants to understand how the business really works.

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll take ownership of financial reporting, keep a close eye on the integrity of the numbers, and make sure the day-to-day finance engine runs well.

You will manage a team and will be working alongside leaders across the business to support decision-making. You’ll be across the detail—balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and making sure everything stacks up as it should.

There’s also a strong focus on improving how we do things. Whether it’s tightening up processes, lifting the quality of reporting, or getting better use out of systems, we’re always looking for a smarter way.

Key tasks include:

  • Supervising and supporting the finance team in daily tasks
  • Ensuring month end related accounts and finance related tasks are completed within set deadlines
  • Preparation of monthly management, Board reports, annual accounts, year end and periodic tax calculations
  • Lead budgeting, planning, and financial forecasting
  • Effectively managing daily cashflow and payment processes for the group
  • Ensuring all tax payments are made to meet IRD deadlines and supervising the preparation and filing of statutory returns, income tax returns, and the payment of relevant taxes
  • Own contract and financial modelling, risk assessment, and scenario analysis
  • Ensure key financial internal controls are maintained and reviewed
  • Taking the lead on contract management and supplier relationships across a broad range of categories
  • Driving supplier performance to ensure that contracts are being delivered to the highest standards, meeting both operational and financial goals
  • Provide advice and suggestions to develop the financial systems in accordance with best practice.
  • Help identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities across the business
  • Liaise with external parties
  • Providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to team members

What we’re looking for

  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years proven experience in a Finance Manager role, managing a team
  • Strong understanding of NZ tax legislation, IFRS and financial reporting, including for multi-entity consolidation
  • Commercial mindset—you look beyond the numbers and a proactive, improvement-focused mindset
  • High attention to detail, but not at the expense of pragmatism
  • Someone who takes ownership and follows things through
  • Confident working with stakeholders across the business
  • Systems savvy, ideally experience with NetSuite, or similar & financial modelling advanced Excel skills, and BI/reporting experience
  • Strong knowledge of contract frameworks, procurement principles and property management would be highly relevant
  • Proactive, results-driven, resilient, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Passionate about contributing to team culture and supporting organisational growth.

In return, you’ll get exposure to senior leaders and involvement in work that shapes the business. It’s a team that values straight-up thinking, accountability, and doing things properly.

If you like clean numbers, well-run processes, and being part of a business that’s moving forward, this will suit.

You will need to have NZ/Australian residency to be considered.
